When looking for a Pilates instructor...

  • 1-on-1 Best to start with
  • Small Group (specified level)
  • Ask about Training and Insurance

At a minimum the instructor should enquire about any health matters, it is better if you fill in a screening form. During the class you should expect a demo and then the instructor should be walking around checking you. Expect the instructor to be hands on, to get a feel for what you are doing and not doing. There is now a body looking at training levels for Pilates instructors. Instructors that have reached a certain level are welcome to join the REPs register for exercise professionals at level 3. You can check this yourself or contact the instructors training provider for information.

  • A reduction in back pain from a better balance of Stability and Mobility.
  • Good movement patterns and correct lifting technique.
